" 〔Religious Faith in the Works of Graham Greene〕
 This course will examine Greeneユs thinking about religion. We are especially interested in his concept of God. However, related themes will also be dealt with. These include Greeneユs ethical standards, his views of the church, the importance of faith, the role of grace, and his thinking about sin. In the first semester, we will read two of his most religious novels: Brighton Rock and The Heart of the Matter. Our discussions in the second semester will focus on two works in which his religious ideas are expressed, but in a much different way: Brighton Rock (novel), The Heart of the Matter (novel), The Living Room (play), and A Burnt-Out Case (novel

 There will be weekly reports, plus an essay at the end of each term
