講義内容 　Foreign workers can be seen almost any where in Japan now. Why are there foreign workers in the first place? What mechanisms are involved in labor migration? How is labor migration explained by micro labor migration theories? What are the positive and negative impact of labor migration on both the sending and receiving countries. These are some of the questions we will try to answer in this class.
講義計画 First there will be a discussion on what constitutes a migrant worker. Next, we will focus on the migrant workers from the Philippines, Korea and Thailand and discuss how migrant labor influenced their local economies. We will then discuss various labor migration theories ranging from macro to micro migration theories.
評価方法 Assessment is based on class participation, reports and short tests.
