副題 Subtitle: Suprasegmental Features of English
講義内容 　英語音声学の基礎知識を与えるとともに、特に日本人が英語を発音する際の困難点を指摘し、日・英語の音韻構造の違い、英語の発音指導のためのヒントを示す。発声器官の名称と働き、英語音の分類と記述、音連続の発音、発話に見られる音声的変化、アクセント、イントネーション等を詳述する。
講義計画 　Building on the knowledge gained during the Spring semester, we will discuss phenomena spanning larger segments than phoneme and syllable. The main interests will be Intonation and Rhythm, though other relevant phenomena will be consider in relation to these.
　It will be assumed that students have taken the Spring semester course; if not, it will up the student to review the relevant material before, or at least concurrently with, Fall semester classes.
評価方法 　One 90-minute final examination; class participation. One tape recording of material relevant to class may be assigned.
