Although this course will focus on Lewis's Narnia stories, we would like to take a wide view of his philosophy and art. Thus, although the main focus will be the stories, ample references to his other works will be given. Our aim is to investigate Lewis's ideas about the nature of fairy-tales and storytelling, his use of myth, the meaning of what he called Sehnsucth (longing), the importance of a moral imagination, and other related topics. Since Lewis's life is intimately related to all that he wrote, we also want to take a good look at his life. |
