副題 BUSINESS ETHICS in a Globalizing World
授業概要 倫理1
This is an introductory basic course in business ethics. The course will give a brief overview of the history and development of business ethics in general, and of “corporate social responsibility” (CSR) in particular. Students will explore and process their own personal value systems, gaining insights from the examples of ethical business leaders and corporate best ethical practices. The course will also provide resources for ethical decision-making that have gained currency among business ethicists and practitioners, and apply them to specific business ethical issues and case studies in the student’s area of interest or field of study. Classes will be conducted both in Japanese and in English.

This course assumes basic knowledge and understanding of fundamental principles in business ethics and corporate social responsibility. Students will again process and deepen their own personal value systems, focusing on corporate best ethical practices. The course will also provide resources for ethical decision-making and apply them to ethical issues in the student’s area of interest or academic major, such as in personnel management, marketing, finance, and international business. Classes will be conducted both in Japanese and in English.

This course aims to develop attitudes, knowledge, and skills for making sound ethical and managerial decisions in business. The course allows students to examine their own ethical values and convictions and those of others, and develop a sense of moral imagination and awareness of, as well as basic knowledge and skills to deal with, certain ethical issues and dilemmas in the workplace both in Japan and in the international business setting.
