副題	Literature and the British Empire The Empire Comes Home: Buchi Emecheta and the Immigrant Experience
講義内容	Seminar III and IV focus on the fictionalized experiences of colonial subjects in the metropolitan center. In this semester we will take up the fiction of Buchi Emecheta, a Nigerian woman living in London.
学修目標	The aim of this seminar is to develop the students’ability to read and interpret fiction critically. We will also begin the process of preparing the final graduation research paper
講義計画	Class time will be divided between discussion of Emecheta’s novel, Second-Class Citizen and student discussion/presentation of their individual research topics. Week 1: Introduction to Buchi Emecheta and immigrant London Weeks 2-14: Individual chapters of the novel
評価方法	Grades will be determined by class attendance, participation, and individual presentations. A detailed guideline will de distributed with the weekly syllabus in the first class.
