副題
講義内容 This subject aims at studying International Relations-related subjects including American foreign relations and U.S.-Japan relations and International Relations theories, given in as much English as possible. This class consists of lectures and discussions and each student is expected to make oral as well as written presentations.
学修目標 This course tries to help each student to have much knowledge of International Relations issues such as war and peace in historical perspective, American foreign relations with Europe, Latin America, and East Asia, including Japan and China in the eighteenth, nineteenth, and twentieth centuries, and in particular, a new type of war ~~ war on terrorism and its impact on the international community.
講義計画 The teacher will give as many as fourteen lectures for this course which cover the above-mentioned topics, sometimes with the aid of audio-visual materials. Each class requires every student to read many reading materials including newspapers in English and in Japanese and to positively participate in discussion and to write a few reports to make this course productive and fruitful.

8. Japan and the US in East Asia at the Turn of the Century
9. The Versailles Peace Treaty and the Washington System in East Asia
10. The World in the 1930's
11. The Atlantic Charter and another world organization
12. The end of World War II and the origins of the Cold War
13. Communism in Europe and in Asia: US loss of China
14. Japan in the Cold War : Japan's new relations with the US
評価方法 Based on class attendance, attitudes toward class, and quizzes and final exam.
