副題	Japanese politics in comparative perspectives
授業概要	This class is conducted completely in English. The main purpose of this course is to study how to read academic writings, write response papers, and discuss topics about which are deeply related to you, Japan's political history from the Meiji Era to now.
学修目標	・To read academic literature ・To write response papers ・To get used to making presentation in English ・To be aware of political events
授業計画	The class is divided into two parts. In the first half, students make presentations on what they chose from articles of newspaper or magazine. Articles can be anything as long as they are something about social and political events. And we discuss about the questions raised by the presenters. In the second half, we discuss about academic writings which I chose in the field of Japanese political development. Be prepared for reading about 20 pages for a week and for actively participating in class discussion.
評価方法	Presentation 30%; Class Participation 30％、Response Paper 30%; Attendance 10%
