講義内容	Before each class students will be given a current event article which they are required to read before the class. Discussion questions will be handed out and students are placed in groups to discuss and analyze the issue. Discussion leaders are assigned and are responsible for their group's active discussion. Each week, new discussion leaders are assigned and are responsible for preparing the discussion questions for the following week. Students are encouraged to speak only in English.
学修目標	The purpose of this course is to introduce students to the various world events that occur every day. Students are required to read and analyze sources of current news such as newspapers, journals, magazines, and other resources. Students will learn strategies that will enable them to critically analyze and discuss today's news. Moreover, students will learn leadership skills through group discussion activities.
講義計画	Topics that will be covered in this course are: social issues educational issues environmental issues political issues economic issues health issues
評価方法	Grading will be based on: active participation, homework assignments, using only English, leadership skills, and attendance
