講義内容 　言語学における主要な研究課題の一つに、統語構造と意味表示の間の「投射原理」がある。統語構造は、意味関係を反映した形で派生されるが、同時に、統語構造と意味表示にしばしば不一致がみられることも指摘されている。本講義は、統語と意味の接点に関わる諸問題の検討を通して、統語理論をさらに発展させることを目的とする。様々な言語現象を考察しながら、統語構造の派生において重要な役割を担う意味関係とはどのようなものであるのか、また、統語と意味の不一致が生じた場合には、どのような統語的操作によって両者がむすびつけられるのかを追求する。より具体的には、年度毎に、句構造形成のメカニズムとしての併合に課せられる意味的制約、意味表示（あるいは論理形式）の派生における移動と再構築の役割、削除や照応形解釈の統語モデル上の位置付け、意味素性の統語派生上の役割といった重要な研究テーマの中からいくつかを選択して詳細に検討することになる。
学修目標 　研究セミナーであるので、受講者は主体的に議論に参加することによって、研究者としてより高度な知識と技法を習得することが期待される。
講義計画 　This year's lectures concern the history of the Binding theory. We will start the discussion with works in the early 1960's, and examine the development through Chomsky's Lectures on Government and Binding（1981）. Then, we will consider some issues related to “reconstruction”in the Minimalist Program.
