授業概要 Continuing from Oral BI/II, this course will help students improve their overall ability to use spoken English for communication. Classes will include a variety of exercises and activities to help students become more confident and proficient speakers of English. Activities may include any of the following: pair-work, small group discussion, interviews, role-plays, individual presentations, group projects, and audiotape and video activities.

この授業では、コミュニケーションのための全般的英語会話力を延ばす。会話力の上達だけでなく、自信を向上させることも目的とした種々の練習やアクティビティを行う。ペアワーク、小グループでのディスカッション、インタビュー、ロールプレイ、プレゼンテーション、グループプロジェクト、またオーディオテープやビデオテープを使ったアクティビティ等がこの中に含まれる。
学修目標 Students will share information and opinions, practice persuasion and negotiation, gain competency in beginning, maintaining, and concluding conversations, and build vocabulary over a range of topics related to daily life, issues in the news, or issues related to studentsユ major to improve overall English proficiency and become more independent learners and critical thinkers.

COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course will focus on the skills of listening and speaking in English, and will include practice in useful communicative techniques and strategies. As students, you will often work together in pairs or groups, problem solving and pooling your knowledge, constructing meaning while gaining confidence in using a second language. Students will also explore some of the ways words work to create unique cultural expression.
COURSE GOALS: Students will imbibe many of the qualities of 'the good language learner,' gaining confidence and independence. You will also reflect upon what works for you individually as a language learner, so that you may concentrate on those ways of learning outside of the classroom, where the bulk of your second language exposure will hopefully take place.

Class description: The purpose of this class is to improve your conversation skills in English. In this class you will learn conversation strategies, increase your vocabulary, improve your listening skills, practice conversing about a wide variety of topics, and practice understanding "authentic English" materials.
Class Goals: Students will be able to have a 7 minute conversation in English. Students will be able to express opinions. Students will be able to explain vocabulary, and describe events. Will gain a familiarity with English spoken at natural speed, from English broadcasts and be able to understand a certain degree of such language.

This class will be a comprehensive English Communication class. The primary focus will on Oral Communication, thus there will be a high expectation of the student to participate fully in each class. The class will use the study of Business English to facilitate study in the areas of conversation, listening, and writing. Each student will be expected contribute to all class activities and prepare prior to coming to class to facilitate the smooth operation of the class. Class activities include, expressing opinions on a regular basis, preparing presentations, writing reports and business letters, listening to language recordings at home, and participating in games designed to stimulate creativity. There will be a final report or final presentation at the end of each semester.

日常生活のニーズに応じたコミュニケーションが出来る学生を対象とした講義。 一つの文で会話が出来るというレベルから、一つのトピックについていくつかの文を作って、並べることが出来るようになることを目標にする。身近なトピックのみでなく、学生は社会に起こった事(環境、差別、経済等)、新聞の記事等についての簡単な要約ができるように練習する。また、自己の考えを表現する総合学習でもあり、問題設定能力を養うことも視野に入れる。

Students will research a variety of topics related to their own lives and present their findings in a small group. The course will focus on individual responsibility for researching a topic, presenting it to a small audience (maximum 5 students) and responding appropriately to any questions. Students will also evaluate their peers' presentations and provide constructive feedback. This will take place in a small group so that students can gain confidence in a supportive environment at the same time as improving the wide range of skills they need to develop their presentation ability.
評価方法 Instructors will provide a detailed grading policy in their syllabus which will be distributed on the first day of class.
テキスト Textbooks and other required materials will be listed in the course syllabus distributed by the instructor on the first day of class.
