| 授業概要 | Drawing from the achievements in ReadingI/II. The aims of this course are to provide students with further practice in a variety of reading strategies and to improve reading proficiency while nurturing a positive attitude for and greater competence in reading in English. A variety of activities using both extensive and intensive reading materials will be used to improve student skills in surveying, predicting, skimming, scanning, inferring, and making connections with the readings. 英語I/IIリーディングで学んだことを生かし、この授業では、読解力の向上と読むことに対するポジティブな姿勢を養うことを目的として、さらにリーディング・ストラテジーの練習をする。多読と精読の両方をとおして、予測立て、概要把握のための拾い読み、情報収集のための拾い読み、推論、関連付け等のリーディング・ストラテジーを学習する。 |
| 学修目標 | Students will increase their reading speeds, broaden and deepen their vocabulary. Students will learn how to effectively employ graphic organizers. Learners will also improve their abilities to make use of linguistic relationships to guess words from context, employ strategies to identify the writerユs purpose, predict outcomes, see relationships and draw conclusions, empowering them to be more independent learners. 学生はこの授業をとおして、以下ができるようになることが期待されている。 ・リーディング・スピードを上げ、語彙力の幅を広げ理解を深くする ・理解を深めるために、効果的にグラフィック・オーガナイザーを利用できる ・文章上の関係とコンテキストから語彙の意味を推測することができる ・作者の目的を知り、結果を予測し、情報の関連性を吟味し、結果を導き出すためのストラテジーを身に付ける ・上記の練習をとおして、学生は教室外における自律学習ができるようになる |
| 授業計画 | A detailed syllabus that includes a weekly schedule will be provided by the instructor on the first day of class. 滝川 睦 01591/01596 英語III，IV リーディング〈全〉１ 英文をすらすらとスマートに読みこなすには、英文読解が重層的なプロセスから成り立っていることを理解しなければなりません。文章全体の意味を一気に把握することから、単語の意味をその単語が生まれた文化にさかのぼって吟味すること、そして文の複雑な構造を解きほぐして理解することまで、読みのプロセスは重層的なものなのです。このプロセスを念頭に置いた、多角的な授業を展開することで、英文読解能力の向上をめざします。 松岡 光治 01592 英語III リーディング〈全〉２ 二種類の方法で英語のリーディングの力を養成する。一つは、英文を完全に理解して、第三者に理解してもらうために、正しい日本語に翻訳する方法。もう一つは（例えば、ウェブ上の好きな英語サイトで高速の拾い読みをする時のように）頭の中に日本語を介在させずに、英語をそのまま受け入れて理解する方法。授業では両方の方法を取り入れる。授業の前半は簡単な短篇小説（テクストはウェブ上からワード文書をダウンロードし、プリントアウトして使用）を精読する。その際には、英語の文法（グラマー）と文章の前後関係（コンテクスト）を車の両輪として捉えて、着実に進んで行く。後半では、TOEICの簡単な読解問題（無料のプリント教材）を速読し、読解力を総合的に高めることを目標とする。前期は短篇小説の精読が主でTOEICの速読が副。教材の難易度は、短篇小説が語彙力4,000〜4,500語程度、TOEICの読解問題が620点前後。 01597 英語IV リーディング〈全〉２ 二種類の方法で英語のリーディングの力を養成する。一つは、英文を完全に理解して、第三者に理解してもらうために、正しい日本語に翻訳する方法。もう一つは（例えば、ウェブ上の好きな英語サイトで高速の拾い読みをする時のように）頭の中に日本語を介在させずに、英語をそのまま受け入れて理解する方法。授業では両方の方法を取り入れる。授業の前半は簡単な短篇小説（テクストはウェブ上からワード文書をダウンロードし、プリントアウトして使用）を精読する。その際には、英語の文法（グラマー）と文章の前後関係（コンテクスト）を車の両輪として捉えて、着実に進んで行く。後半では、TOEICの簡単な読解問題（無料のプリント教材）を速読し、読解力を総合的に高めることを目標とする。後期はTOEICの速読が主で短篇小説の精読が副。教材の難易度は、短篇小説が語彙力4,500〜5,000語程度、TOEICの読解問題が740点前後。 古谷 礼子 01593 英語III リーディング〈全〉３ This course will provide students with a variety of reading strategies to improve reading proficiency, increase reading speed, build vocabulary, and promote a positive attitude for and competence in reading in English. 01598 英語IVリーディング〈全〉３ This course will give students more opportunity to read a wide variety of text types and develop and practice academic reading skills. They will be doing various tasks that motivate them to engage with different reading strategies. |
