副題 | Wordsworth and Coleridge |
授業概要 | This core text of this course is widely regarded as the most important book of the Romantic period: the Lyrical Ballads. We will read the poems as Wordsworth and Coleridge originally published them in 1798. There will be an opportunity to return to the themes of the first semester, but they will be studied in relation to the Lyrical Ballads. In the second semester the student of literature will also be introduced to 3 modern critical methodologies (cultural materialism, reception theory and genetic criticism), which he or she will be expected to apply in his or her own writing. |
