副題 Wordsworth and Coleridge
授業概要 This core text of this course is widely regarded as the most important book of the Romantic period: the Lyrical Ballads. We will read the poems as Wordsworth and Coleridge originally published them in 1798. Students will also be introduced to 3 modern critical methodologies (cultural materialism, reception theory and genetic criticism), which he or she will be encouraged to apply in his or her own writing. The aim of this course is to help the advanced learner of English arrive at a deeper understanding of English Romantic history and culture.
学修目標 By the end of this course, you will learn how to read Romantic poems from a variety of critical standpoints. You will also have an idea of how to conduct specialist research in the field of Romanticism.

【その他】You should already have a good understanding of the English language. Ideally, you should be a fluent (or near-fluent) speaker of the English language and have a TOEIC score of 800 points or more.

 ・Wordsworth and Coleridge's Lyrical Ballads
 ・An A-4-sized folder with at least 40 pockets
 ・A dictionary (this may be a book or electronic)
Class size will be limited to 30 students.
