授業概要 This lecture format course deals with some of the current topics in corporate finance: Take-Over Bids (TOB), Mergers and Acquisitions, Corporate Governance, and Payout Policy. Lectures and the course report will be in English. This course has no prerequisites; however, a basic knowledge of corporate finance and accounting would be helpful.
学修目標 The goal of the course is to introduce students to the most significant corporate finance issues in Japan today.

Week10: Payout Policy: Stock Repurchases, Information Signaling
Week11: Payout Policy: Stock Repurchases, Entrenchment and Mimicking
Week12: Governance and Control in Germany, Japan and the United States
Week13: Governance and Control in Developing Economies
Week14: LBOs, Carve-outs, Spin-offs and Going Private
Week15: Completion of Report
評価方法 Attendance/Class Participation/Presenting Report 50%, and Final Report 50%.
テキスト Richard Brealey and Stewart Myers, Principles of Corporate Finance, 6th edition, (Mainly Part Ten), New York: McGraw-Hill. This book is available in Japanese.
その他 Students from the English department are welcome in this course. The course does not require that students have taken other business courses. English language students who are considering a career in business will find this course helpful.
