授業概要 This course is a practical introduction to qualitative research. The qualitative research cycle is illustrated, and ethics in qualitative research considered. You will also practice writing up your research in a qualitative research style. The course will be conducted in both Japanese and English.
学修目標 The goal of this course is to introduce five main data collection methods (diaries, interviews, verbal reports, questionnaires, observation) and four qualitative research approaches (narrative inquiry, case study, action research, ethnography). By the end of the course, you will be able to read and understand published qualitative research studies and know how to do your own qualitative research.

その他 This class will be taught in English, but readings and class discussions will be in both Japanese and English. The weekly and final reports may be in Japanese or English.
