授業概要	Vocabulary knowledge is one of the essential skills in language learning but has, until recently, not been considered closely. However, in recent years, there has been an explosion in lexical research. This seminar will survey the topic of second language vocabulary development and research and consider what we have learned.
学修目標	By the end of this seminar students will have an understanding of how the approaches to second language vocabulary learning/teaching have changed and what has influenced these changes.
授業計画	Part I: exploring the mental lexicon Part II: word knowledge Part III: the relationship between vocabulary and other language skills Part IV: the teaching of vocabulary
評価方法	The course evaluation will include continuous assessment of any work produced and a research project report to be submitted at the end of the course.
