授業概要 This course will help students improve their overall ability to use spoken English for communication. Classes will include a variety of exercises and activities to help activate knowledge through actual use, to stimulate healthy attitudes towards English and studying, to learn about learning, and to master language necessary for interpersonal interaction in a relaxed yet challenging environment. Activities may include pair-work, small group discussion, interviews, role-plays, individual presentations, group projects, and audiotape and video activities.
学修目標 Students will share information and opinions, practice persuasion and negotiation, gain competency in beginning, maintaining, and concluding daily conversations, build vocabulary, conduct outside research, present in small groups and in front of the class over a range of topics related to daily life and issues in the news to become more independent learners and critical thinkers.
授業計画 A detailed syllabus that includes a weekly schedule will be provided by the instructor on the first day of class.

評価方法 Grading will be based on attendance, participation, class performance, homework assignments, quizzes, and a final project. Instructors will provide a detailed grading policy in their syllabus, which will be distributed on the first day of class. Tests, homework and attendance in the Language Laboratory (LL) are combined with the results in OCI/II to determine course grade. Students must pass both the Oral Communication class and the LL to pass the class.
テキスト Textbooks and other required materials will be listed in the course syllabus distributed by the instructor on the first day of class.
その他 In each 90-minute OCI/II class, 45 minutes will be spent in the language laboratory with the emphasis on various aspects of listening comprehension and pronunciation using prepared listening and video materials.
