授業概要 Continuing from Integrated EnglishI/II, this course will integrate the four language skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing in English. Classes will include a variety of exercises, activities, and methods to help students become more self-confident and proficient in all four skills.

この授業では、英語I/II総合に引き続き、リスニング、スピーキング、リーディング、ライティングの4技能を統合した学習が行われる。種々の練習やアクティビティをとおして、学生が英語の運用に自信を持ち、4技能において英語力を向上させることを目的とする。
学修目標 Students will develop skills for predicting, scanning, and summarizing from a variety of readings as well as skills in listening for gist, note-taking, and dictation from a variety of listening materials. Students will also develop skills in responding to materials orally and in writing.

学生はこの授業をとおして、以下ができるようになることが期待されている。
・種々のリーディング素材を使用して、予測、スキャニング、要約等の力をつける
・リスニング練習をとおして、概要の聞き取り、ノートテーキング、ディクテーションができるようになる
・口頭およびライティングでの表現スキルを磨く

The goal of this course will be to give students the opportunity to improve the four language skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing) for better everyday communication. Through individual, pair and group-work activities, students will build their confidence to use English more fluently and with accuracy. Students will engage in group conversations on the different weekly journal topics written outside of class. Current issues will be used to practice reading speed, develop comprehension strategies, and gain both oral and written critical thinking skills. Audio and video-taped materials will be used for listening practice and modeling for daily conversation practice. In addition, students will sing songs to acquire pronunciation techniques.

In the Integrated English course students will work on a combination of reading, writing, listening and discussion activities. The aim of the course is to improve students overall ability in the four skills and to give them the confidence to express their opinions, through the study of a wide choice of interesting issues. Students will work cooperatively and independently on a number of topics and will be evaluated through presentations, role-plays and reports as well as their overall participation in the class. Materials will be a combination of textbook, video, audio and authentic texts taken from newspapers, magazines and the internet. For students to be successful in this course is it essential that they participate fully in each class by openly sharing their views in discussion activities and spend time outside of the classroom on group and individual research.
