授業概要 | The main objective of this course is improve communication skills and to provide students with enough practice to feel comfortable using English in functional daily activities and to express their opinions on a number of topics. Most classroom activities will focus on practicing English knowledge already acquired and gaining confidence in daily practical situations. |
学修目標 | ●Be able to explain and discuss lifestyles, hobbies and background ●Properly use and be able to differentiate simple present, present progressive, past, present perfect and future tense ●Through active listening activities, improve listening comprehension and become familiar with a more advanced level of everyday English. |
授業計画 | A general guide to the course: Week 1: Icebreakers, getting to know one another Week 2: Talking about daily routines, hobbies and entertainment, song: ‘When the Stars Go Blue’ Week 3-4: Health and maintaining a healthy lifestyle Week 5: Talk about the future and future plans, introduce Frasier (US comedy) Week 6: Storytelling activity: ‘Dear John’ Week 7: Childhood Memories ‘Talking about the Past’ Week 8: Future plans, career choices Week 9-: Love & Marriage activity, song: ‘My Antonia’ Week 10-11: Storytelling activity ‘The Lady and the Lion’ Week 12: Listening activity based on the song ‘Tom,s Diner’ Week 13: Geography game and travel talk Week 14: Summer Plans Week 15: Review and Final Report (Due date to be announced in class) |
授業時間外の学習(準備学習など) | Most of the homework assignments will not be collected, they are meant to be used as preparation for the communication activities for the following class, so please do your assignments as you will be less prepared to participate. |
評価方法 | Class room participation 30%, Assignments Completed 30%, Final Report 40%. |
