副題
授業概要 This course will help students improve their overall ability to use spoken English for communication. Classes will include a variety of exercises and activities to help activate knowledge through actual use, to stimulate healthy attitudes towards English and studying, to learn about learning, and to master language necessary for interpersonal interaction in a relaxed yet challenging environment. Activities include pair-work, small group discussion, interviews, role-plays, individual presentations, group projects, and audiotape and video activities.

2. Talk about daily routines and personal topics
3. Identify and use vocabulary for specific topics as well as for everyday functions
4. Discuss controversial issues in pairs and small groups
5. Orally summarize readings, generate discussion questions and moderate conversations
6. Give a 5-10 minute presentation in English on an academic topic
7. Maintain a conversation in pairs or small groups for at least 10 minutes on an academic topic

12. Preparation for group presentation, choosing topics, planning and researching
13. Preparation for group presentation, designing visual aids and practicing, LL test
14. Group presentations, Final report (Due date to be announced in class)
15. Continue Group Presentations; Class critique of the year,s work
授業時間外の学習(準備学習など) Students will be expected to read and summarize passages from the textbook and additional readings provided by the instructor, prepare for discussions and mini-presentations, research topics, create visual aids and note
cards for presentations and group discussions, and visit the World Plaza regularly. All homework is to be submitted at the beginning of each class period. Failure to do so will affect the student,s final grade.
評価方法 Homework/World Plaza: 20%, Language Lab: 25%
Mini-presentations/Presentations: 30%, Final Report: 25%
(Students must pass both the LL and OC class to pass the class.)

その他 Attendance: Students are expected to attend class regularly. Attendance is integral to the smooth running of group presentations. Students who miss 8 classes will receive an F. Note that club activities are considered an absence. Students who fail to turn in the final report by the deadline will receive an X.
