授業概要 This course will help students improve their overall ability to use spoken English for communication. Classes will include a variety of exercises and activities to help students become more confident and proficient speakers of English. Activities may include any of the following: pair-work, small group discussion, interviews, role-plays, individual presentations, group projects, and audiotape and video activities.
学修目標 ● Use classroom expressions (How do you say ume in English?).
● Use conversation strategies to start, maintain and conclude conversations in English.
● Talk about daily routines, personal topics such as family, work, and college life.
● Identify and use vocabulary for everyday functions.
● Understand and explain schedules, dates, and times.
● Give opinions on general topics or ones related to the students, major.
● Give a 2 minute self-introduction.
● Give a 5 minute presentation in English on a general topic.
● Maintain a conversation for at least 6 minutes in English on a general topic.

授業時間外の学習(準備学習など) In addition to the homework assigned in the Weekly Schedule section listed above, students are expected to study for quizzes and test, transcribe a conversation and visit the World Plaza regularly.

● Review Words to Use Tests - 20% - Late or absent students receive 0%.
● Conversation - 20% - Late or absent students receive 0%.
● Report - 25% - Late or no report = X

その他 Homework & Participation -1% from the final grade if student is late, sleeping, using his/her phone, using Japanese, does not have homework or generally not participating. Early leave, late 3 times, or late for more than 15 minutes = 1 absence.
欠席と成績評価: 欠席は4回に達した段階でF(不合格)評価がつく。また、授業数の3分の1を超えて欠席がある場合、評価はS(欠席過多)となる。
If you miss 4 classes, you will get an F.
