授業概要 This course aims to develop your ability to use English for everyday communication. You will learn conversation strategies and vocabulary as you aim to talk about your own life, experiences and opinions. Listening skills, pronunciation and intonation will also be addressed.
学修目標 1.To use classroom expressions
2.To identify and use vocabulary pertaining to general topics as well as specific topics related to the textbook
3.To use conversation strategies for starting, maintaining and concluding conversation as well as sharing opinions, giving advice, and agreeing/disagreeing
4.To understand and use colloquial expressions and verbal cues
5.To maintain a conversation for at least 5-7 minutes in English both on general topics and topics related to your major
6.To be able to give a 5 to 7 minute presentation
7.To discuss and debate current events and controversial issues
8.To read and summarize articles related to the textbook unit

授業時間外の学習(準備学習など) Students will be expected to review for vocabulary quizzes from lists provided by the instructor, prepare index card presentations and read short passages related to the unit in order to share their ideas in the next class.

その他 Attendance: Students are expected to actively attend class regularly. Students who miss 4 classes will receive an F. Students who fail to submit the final report by the deadline will receive an X.
