授業概要 This class aims to improve reading proficiency and to ultimately give students the confidence and ability to read high level graded readers and other material designed high level English language learners. Students will increase their reading speeds, broaden and deepen their vocabulary, learn to make use of linguistic relationships to guess words from context and employ strategies to identify the writerユs purpose. Ultimately students will be able to read short newspaper and magazine articles in English.
学修目標 ● Scan texts for specific information
● Identify the main idea and supporting ideas of a paragraph or text
● Preview an English text and make predictions about it
● Read and understand designated texts at 80-100 words per minute
● Guess the meanings of words from context
● Read, understand and discuss graded readers (OUP level 2 or higher) without using a dictionary are able to summarize stories, identigy important passages, and connect the readings with their own lives
● Read, understand, summarize and discuss short newspaper articles (250-300 words)
