授業概要 This course aims to develop your ability to use various reading skills and strategies such as finding the main idea, predicting, skimming, identifying meaning from context and so on. Opportunities will be provided to increase your reading fluency as well as developing your vocabulary through intensive reading passages. Talking about what you have read is also an essential component of the course.
学修目標 1.To preview an English text and make predictions about it
2.To guess the meaning of words and make predictions about it
3.To read a section of text aloud with appropriate rhythm, word stress, and intonation
4.To identify a writer,s opinion or attitude
5.To evaluate information and opinions in readings for validity and logic
6.To read and discuss “authentic” articles on current issues
7.To read and understand graded readers without using a dictionary and be able to summarize stories, identify important passages, connect the readings with other literature/stories, and connect the stories in some way to your own lives or events and issues in the world in general
8.To read and understand designated texts at a rate of at least 120 words per minute

その他 Attendance: Students are expected to actively attend class regularly. Students who miss 4 classes will receive an F. Students who fail to submit the final report by the deadline will receive an X.
<欠席の限度>
4回欠席すると、「F(不合格)」になります。
授業の3分の1以上(5回以上)欠席すると、「S(欠席過多)」になります。
