授業概要 This course provides students with a variety of reading strategies to improve reading proficiency and promote a positive attitude for and competence in reading in English. Activities will include both extensive and intensive reading tasks using a variety of texts for improving student skills in surveying, predicting, skimming, scanning, inferring, and making connections with the readings.

4. Identify main ideas and supporting details from a text
5. Analyze text to determine relationships between ideas and draw conclusions
6. Read, understand, and discuss graded readers (at approximately OUP Level 2 or higher)

授業時間外の学習(準備学習など) Students will be expected to read short texts and graded readers outside of class, prepare reader summaries, and study the vocabulary that compliments the readers and unit topics.
評価方法 Participation/Preparation: 30%, Graded reader quizzes and summaries: 45% Final Report: 25%

その他 Attendance and Participation are graded heavily in this course. Students who miss 4 classes will fail without exception. Club activities are considered an absence. The final report must be submitted before the final deadline. Failure to do so will result in a grade of X for the student.
