授業概要 | The purpose of this course is to provide students with a variety of writing exercises to improve their proficiency, organization and their confidence. Activities will include short writing tasks and longer writing tasks, incorporating the use of the course skills so that students become aware of the full writing process. |

授業計画 | 1.Introduction, syllabus, initial writing survey 2.Unit1 : pp.4-8(brainstorming and topic sentences) 3.Unit1 : pp.9-12 (paragraph formatting) 4.Unit2 : pp.14-17 (inference sentences and editing) 5.Unit2 : pp.18-22 (connecting sentences and formal letter writing) ; Project #1 due 6.Unit3 : pp.23-26 (supporting sentences, facts and examples) 7.Creative and informal writing (email and short story) 8.Unit3 : pp27-31 (reported speech and typing format) 9.Unit4 : pp.33-36 (attention getters and vocabulary use) ; Project #2 due 10.Unit4 : pp.37-41 (avoiding repetition and business email) 11.Unit5 : pp.42-48 (introductory paragraphs and cause & effect) 12.Creative and informal writing (lyrics and poetry) 13.Unit6: pp. 53-58 (making suggestions and modifiers) ; Project #3 due 14.Review and editing 15.Portfolio preparation |
授業時間外の学習(準備学習など) | Students will be assigned homework every week which will consist of working through the various stages of the writing process, towards finishing each project (drafting, writing rough copies, editing, writing final copies and reflecting on their work). |
