授業概要	The purpose of this class is to provide students with a variety of writing techniques to further improve writing proficiency and promote a positive attitude for and competence in paragraph writing in English. Students will write various kinds of multiple-paragraph English essays of 400-500 words.
学修目標	１．Use a variety of pre-writing techniques such as lists and mind maps ２．Understand basic vocabulary associated with writing (e.g. paragraph, main idea, topic sentence, supporting details) ３．Write a unified and developed essay on a general or personal topic ４．Recognize and use transitional cues ５．Follow basic typing conventions

授業時間外の学習（準備学習など）	Students will be expected to review what they have learned in each class, fill out the pre-writing worksheet, and write the first draft for the assigned essay project. They will be also expected to edit and rewrite it after it is returned with the instructor,s comments. They can revise and submit it as many times as they wish if they are not satisfied with its grade anytime during the semester.
評価方法	Participation 10% Portfolio that includes projects #１-#５ 90% (#１ : 10%, #２-#５ : 20% each)

その他	Attendance : Students are expected to attend class regularly. Students who miss ４ classes will receiver an F. All projects must have a C or a better grade. Students who fail to turn in the final portfolio by the deadline will receive an X.
