授業概要 This course will help students to improve their listening, and will help them to understand how to improve their listening. Students will learn about listening skills, such as listening for details, listening for main ideas, listening in communication and note-taking, as well as about features of spoken English, such as English syllable structure, consonant clusters, rhymes, weak forms and various types of linking. Students will also be introduced to various ways to practice listening.

3.To learn listening skills and be able to apply these skills appropriately
4.To begin getting used to lecture-style material in English
5.To learn about some of the means available to continue improving students, listening beyond the horizons of the course and to motivate students to make use of such means

授業時間外の学習(準備学習など) Students will be expected to use ALC Net Academy on a regular basis, and will also try a variety of other audio and video based websites and prepare summaries of the listening material.
評価方法 Participation = 20 percent   Homework = 15 percent
ALC Net Academy = 10 percent
Class notes = 15 percent    Final exam = 40 percent

その他 Attendance is important. Students who miss 4 classes will receive an F.
欠席と成績評価:欠席は4回に達した段階でF(不合格)評価がつく。また、授業数の3分の1を超えて欠席がある場合、評価はS(欠席過多)となる。
