副題	Current Corporate Finance Topics in English
授業概要	This directed reading and lecture format course deals with current topics in financial management. The goal of the course is to introduce students to business management issues while improving English reading, writing and oral presentation skills. Most classroom time will be spent reading and discussing English language articles from current publications. Students are also required to read an English language book related to finance or business. This course has no prerequisites; however, interest in business and high-school level English skill would be helpful. English language students are very welcome in this course. The course does not require that students have taken other business courses. English language students who are considering a career in business will find this course helpful.
学修目標	The goal of the course is to introduce students to the most significant finance issues in Japan today while improving their English skill.
授業計画	Week 1: Introduction to Major Finance Issues Today Week 2: TOBs: Good Reasons for Mergers Week 3: TOBs: Bad Reasons for Mergers Week 4: TOBs: The Anti-Monopoly Law Week 5: TOBs: Investment Funds Week 6: Payout Policy: Economic Value Added Week 7: Payout Policy: How Much Debt is Good? Week 8: Payout Policy: Dividends Week 9: Payout Policy: Stock Repurchases, Free Cash Flow Week 10: Payout Policy: Stock Repurchases, Information Signaling Week 11: Payout Policy: Stock Repurchases, Entrenchment and Mimicking Week 12: Governance and Control in Germany, Japan and the United States Week 13: Governance and Control in Developing Economies Week 14: LBOs, Carve-outs, Spin-offs and Going Private Week 15: Completion of Report
授業時間外の学習（準備学習など）	Students should read long articles from Business Week, the Economist and the Wall Street Journal before they are discussed in class.
評価方法	Attendance/Class Participation/Presenting Reports 50%, and Final Report 50%.
