【授業概要】

This course will begin with an introduction of Christianity and its relation to cultures while focusing on the cultures that are Christian in its origin and outreach. Each class will be deal with Christian themes that play or played major role in shaping different cultural elements which are commonplace on the cultural landscape. To elucidate further cultural samples such as classic music, literature, art and architecture will be considered as part of the analysis. Towards the end of the semester students are expected to choose one particular Christian cultural theme and present the research outcome either as individual or as a group.

【学修目標】

The purpose of this course has three elements. First, this course aims to present an academic outline of Christian cultures. Second, this course takes up few samples of Christian cultural themes and uses audio visual means to understand them. Third, this course aims to involve students to participate in active research and presentation through which students are led to a deeper understanding and appreciation of Christian cultures.
