授業概要 | This seminar focuses upon ways to research teaching and learning in the language classroom. By reading and discussing examples of classroom research, and considering them in terms of their own graduate research, students will develop a deeper understanding of the purposes, methods, and challenges of doing classroom research. |
学修目標 | The purpose of this seminar is to prepare students to do their own classroom research, as part of their master thesis work. By the end of the semester, students will have created a conceptual framework, drawn up a set of research questions, decided how to generate and analyze data, and considered how to make valid research claims. |

授業時間外の学習(準備学習など) | Each week, students will be required to read one chapter and summarize the information into a mind-map, in preparation for class discussion. |
評価方法 | Twelve mind-maps of discussion readings (5% each): 60% Mid-term report: 20% Term-end report: 20% |
