講義内容 | In this course, students will be expected to expand on the skills they practiced in Writing in English IandII, with the goal that students become more competent writers of academic essays in English. |
講義計画 | Students will learn writing as a process that includes prewriting activities and writing essays in multiple drafts. Students will study how to write a variety of kinds of essays in English, which may include descriptive, narrative, comparison-contrast, and persuasive styles. Students may be asked to write approximately three essays of 500 words or more each semester. In addition to feedback from their instructor, students may be asked to give feedback to their classmates, and, in turn, use that feedback to improve their own writing. Students may also be asked to use and document outside sources of information in their essays. Class activities will vary depending on the instructor and students' needs. Class activities may include guidance from the instructor on writing essays in English, in-class writing, grammar review, and, in some cases, students may use computers during class, if available, for writing and / or research. |
評価方法 | Most instructors will evaluate students based on their writing and effort inside and outside of class. Details of how individual instructors evaluate students will be announced in class by the respective instructor. |
テキスト | The textbook will vary depending on the instructor. |
