講義内容	There is a growing debate in intnational politics about the future of the United Nations in a post Cold War World. Much of this debate focuses on what is a 'legal' war
学修目標	This course will enhance student's ability to examine various ideas about the role of organizations in international politics
講義計画	We will examine two cases of 'legal wars' Then we will look at cases of 'illegal' wars such as the Vietnam war, the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, and the Falklands war. We will pay especial attention to the 2003 Iraq war and the role of the United Nations The implications for Japan will be examined.
評価方法	Evaluation will be by short reports on a weekly basis. Attendance is compulsory
