【授業概要】

本科目の目的は、航空産業をはじめとして陸・海・空における交通・輸送産業の経営管理に対して経営学および応用ミクロ経済学の知識を適用するためのスキルを学生に理解させることである。講義の前半では、企業の輸送および関連する流通部門の政策・戦略的側面に焦点を当てる。後半では、輸送および流通産業に対して種々の経営的機能の分析に基づいて多様な経営技術やその体系を中心に講義する。

交通・輸送経営学の予備知識を持たない学生が不利にならないように、まず初めに輸送および流通産業がどのような経済・経営環境の下に機能してきたかを国別・地域別および地球規模別に概観することから始める。急激な市場環境ならびにユーザー選好の変化の下で交通・輸送産業がより良い成果を治めるために、交通・輸送部門の経営もまた環境変化にどのように対応しなければならないかを強調して講義する。

【到達目標】

 This course is designed to train students key aspects of the management and operations of transportation and logistics firms including airlines, railroads, express courier firms, airports and seaports and transport infrastructure firms.. The subjects to be covered will include the broad assessment of business environment in which transport firms operate; how to assess and adapt to the forthcoming regulatory policy changes; lobbying for policy changes; transport demand forecasting; efficient network design; management of public infrastructure including transport infrastructure; competition policy and transportation firms; marketing management, pricing and yield management, cost analysis and control; IT facilitated changes in transportation market places and marketing channel; IT’s role in re-engineering; fleet planning and scheduling; financing fleet and rolling stocks;  and Human Resource Management and Union-Management relations.

【授業計画】

  15 class meetings will be used for lecturing basic concepts and methods, class discussion, case analysis and project and profile presentations.  The tentative schedule of topics to be covered is as follows:

  Since travel and transport markets change dynamically, every year the course materials need to be redesigned and updated in order to reflect the changing situations and key players in the industry and market. Also, depending on the interest of students, professor will decide whether or not this course will focus on one of more of air transport, rail transport, urban transport or shipping and logistics industries.
