授業概要 This course will integrate the four language skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing in English. Classes will include a variety of exercises, activities, and methods to help students become more self-confident and proficient in both written and spoken English.

この授業では、リスニング、スピーキング、リーディング、ライティングの４技能を統合した学習が行われる。種々の練習やアクティビティをとおして、学生が英語の運用に自信を持ち、文字と音をとおして英語力を向上させることを目的とする。
学修目標 Students will develop skills for predicting, scanning, and summarizing from a variety of readings. Students will also develop skills in responding to materials orally and in writing to promote learner independence and critical thinking.

学生はこの授業をとおして、以下ができるようになることが期待されている。
・種々のリーディング素材を使用して、予測、スキャニング、要約等の力をつける
・口頭およびライティングでの表現スキルを磨く
・教室外における自律学習スキルを学ぶ
・クリティカル思考力をつける
授業計画 A detailed syllabus that includes a weekly schedule will be provided by the instructor on the first day of class.

The emphasis in this course is helping students further build upon the foundation of oral and aural skills already learned. Classes are designed to help students gain more fluency and confidence and move towards establishing their individual command and control over basic language structures necessary for English communication. The course will include a variety of exercises and activities that will help students talk about personal experiences, express and discuss a variety of opinions and their ideas through pair and group work. Activities will include individual and　small group presentations.
They will also increase their independent learning ability through internet listening outside of class ( Elllo.org and Breaking News English.com, Voa etc) every week.

リスニング、スピーキング、リーディング、ライティングの４技能をバランスよく伸ばしていくコースです。身の回りから社会的な話題まで学生の興味にそった話題をとりあげ使える英語に触れていきます。リスニングはナチュラルスピードの英語を聴き、必要な情報を取り出すと練習やディクテーションをします。スピーキングでは身近な話題についてのスピーキングのほか短めのスピーチもします。リーディングは短めの記事の速読をします。ライティングはその日のリスニングやリーディングの話題に関連させて自分の意見を書きます。
評価方法 Instructors will provide a detailed grading policy in their syllabus which will be distributed on the first day of class.
テキスト Textbooks and other required materials will be listed in the course syllabus distributed by the instructor on the first day of class.
