授業概要 　In this course, students will be expected to expand on the skills they developed in Writing in English III as well as their first-year writing courses, with the goal that students become more competent writers of academic essays in English.
学修目標 　By the end of this course, students should be able to plan and write a short academic paper. Students should also be able to demonstrate some familiarity with the conventions of academic writing including the use of citations.
授業計画 Week 1 Introduction and review of Writing 3
Week 2 Introduction to academic writing
Week 3-5 Module One--Practicing academic writing skills
Week 6-13 Module Two--Putting skills to use--Writing a paper
Week 14 General Evaluation of papers
授業時間外の学習（準備学習など） Study and preparation time outside of classes will vary from week to week depending on the assignment. The instructor will give adequate notice of any due assignments well in advance as well as advice on how long they
will take to complete, and will ensure that students are not given excessive workloads.
評価方法 　Grading procedures will be described in detail in the course plan distributed to students at the first class.
