NU4-COIL2Program

"NU4-COIL2~ A Regionally Deep-Rooted Tailor-Made Education Program ~"was adopted as a "Re-Inventing Japan Project" launched by MEXT (Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology). The tailor-made education program captures the needs of Nanzan University, the partner American universities and local industries and, at the same time, enlarges and maximizes the benefits for students and local industries.
Through grass-roots level communication, we aim to develop the relationship between Japan and the U.S. and to take the initiative in terms of leading educational collaboration with institutions around the world.

Inter-University Exchange Project (Re-Inventing Japan Project)

The "Re-Inventing Japan Project" is a funding project launched by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) from the FY 2011. Aiming to foster human resources capable of working on the international stage and to assure the quality of education, the MEXT provides financial support to efforts for the formation of collaborative programs with universities in such countries as Asia and the US conducting study abroad programs strategically. NU4

This program aims to go beyond the relationship between Japan and the U.S. and extend to our partner institutions all over the world. To begin with, it starts out as the "Nanzan United States COIL", an initiative between Nanzan University and its partner institutions in the U.S. Once it is firmly established, it will be developed into the "Nippon United States COIL" in which other universities in Japan and the United States use the same model. After the five-year period of government's support has ended, we will use the know-how gained to expand the program beyond the U.S. to regions such as Asia and Europe to become the "Nippon Universal COIL". We believe that a diversity range and network will grow from this process.

Community-Based Education Program

Aichi Prefecture, where Nanzan University is located, is a hub for international manufacturers, meaning that the region has close economic and cultural ties with the U.S. Taking advantage of the feature, in conjunction with the corporations, organizations and government bodies in Aichi, company-visit type internships will be offered to international students and Nanzan students to give them opportunities to research U.S.-Japan issues from a hands-on experience. In addition to this, in PBL COIL (Project Based Learning COIL), we ask the corporations, organizations and government bodies to give us some case studies related to Japan and the U.S. that students work on in class. It is a practical learning approach that students from both countries suggest possible solutions to the problems, after researching and discussing with corporations and government bodies.
